NEOM Energy and Water Company has been named first runner-up in the Innovative Research and Development Award (International Institutions category) during the fourth cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Global Water Award. The company was recognized for pioneering membrane-based crystallization technology that enables high-efficiency freshwater recovery and mineral extraction from brine.

The Voluntary Carbon Market Company (VCM) and Enowa, NEOM’s energy and water arm, have struck a landmark deal to deliver at least 30 million tonnes of high-integrity carbon credits by 2030. This long-term agreement shows Enowa’s promise to offset its unavoidable emissions. It also supports global climate action. This is especially true for projects in the Global South, which gain stable, long-term funding. The first delivery occurred in December 2024.

NEOM Port has begun training 10 young Saudi women from the Tabuk region in advanced technical jobs, including remote operation of cranes. This training is part of a pioneering two-year program that combines technical education, practical training, and career guidance.

NEOM Green Hydrogen Co., part of Saudi Arabia’s futuristic city NEOM, is building a foundation for a transformative clean energy sector, aiming for global leadership rather than merely establishing the world’s largest production plant, said its CEO. 

The Yanbu-NIC HVDC interconnection is an HVDC Light^® project, enabling development of NEOM in Saudi Arabia with up to 9 gigawatts of power transmission capacity.  Once completed, the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems will have a total power capacity of up to 9 gigawatts (GW) and consist of three HVDC transmission links.

Saudi Arabia’s ambitious NEOM project continues to make headlines, this time with visible progress at OXAGON, its futuristic floating industrial complex. Newly released satellite imagery has revealed significant developments at the Port of NEOM, located in OXAGON, one of the most striking components of the world’s largest construction site.  The Port of NEOM is rising on the Red Sea, along one of the busiest maritime trade corridors in the world. Its proximity to the Suez Canal—through which nearly 12% of global trade passes—gives it a pivotal advantage. This location positions OXAGON as a crucial new player in connecting Asia, Africa and Europe.
